André Tezza is a photographer, professor, holds a master’s degree in Philosophy from the Federal University of Paraná, and a PhD in Communication from Fernando Pessoa University, in Portugal. Born in Curitiba, Brazil, in 1973, he worked for two decades as a lecturer in Photography, Communication, and Design programs, with extensive experience in teaching, research, and academic outreach. He served as director of Ensicom – Forum on Communication Education (2017–2021) and was a member of editorial boards for academic publications in the field.
Between 2023 and 2024, he undertook a photographic journey from Alaska to Patagonia aboard a motorhome, producing a body of work centered on the relationships between landscape, culture, and identity across the Americas. Part of this work won second place at the 2025 Sony World Photography Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious photography prizes, in the Professional – Architecture & Design category. The series was exhibited at Somerset House, in London, and published in the award’s official book.
In 2026, he was once again recognized by the Sony World Photography Awards, winning second place again in the Professional – Architecture & Design category with the series Everyday Structures, as well as third place in the Latin America Professional Award. His work has received wide international attention, with publications and features in outlets such as The Guardian, National Geographic, Corriere della Sera, and Paris Match, as well as coverage in the Brazilian press, including UOL, G1, and specialized platforms dedicated to photography and culture.
André Tezza é fotógrafo, professor, mestre em Filosofia pela Universidade Federal do Paraná e doutor em Comunicação pela Universidade Fernando Pessoa, em Portugal. Natural de Curitiba (1973), atuou por duas décadas como docente em cursos de Fotografia, Comunicação e Design, com ampla experiência em ensino, pesquisa e extensão. Foi diretor do Ensicom – Fórum sobre o Ensino da Comunicação (2017–2021) e integrou conselhos editoriais de publicações acadêmicas da área.
Entre 2023 e 2024, realizou uma travessia fotográfica do Alasca à Patagônia a bordo de um motorhome, produzindo um acervo centrado nas relações entre paisagem, cultura e identidade nos territórios americanos. Parte desse trabalho conquistou o segundo lugar no Sony World Photography Awards 2025, um dos mais importantes prêmios de fotografia do mundo, na categoria Profissional – Arquitetura & Design. A série foi exibida na Somerset House, em Londres, e publicada no livro oficial da premiação.
Em 2026, voltou a ser reconhecido pelo Sony World Photography Awards, conquistando novamente o segundo lugar na categoria Profissional – Arquitetura & Design, com a série Estruturas do Cotidiano, além do terceiro lugar no Latin America Professional Award. Seu trabalho alcançou ampla repercussão internacional, com publicações e reportagens em veículos como The Guardian, National Geographic, Corriere della Sera e Paris Match, além de destaque na imprensa brasileira em meios como UOL, G1 e plataformas especializadas em fotografia e cultura.
